While she has racing in her veins, Maria also has a very different life away from the race track. Maria is a first-year medical student medicine at the University of Alicante in Spain.
Having grown up in nearby Elda, Maria has enjoyed a lifelong passion for sports, playing tennis, basketball and football since she was a child. She also has a gift for horse riding and competed for over eight years in equestrian events.
At the age of 14 she decided to swap one type of horse power for another and - as her father was an amateur motorbike rider - she begged him for her own machine. He relented and bought a bike for Maria to share with her sister and the pair would ride the small motorcycle around go-kart tracks.
Over the course of the next five years Maria started to take motorcycling more seriously and progressed through the ranks of Moto4 and Moto3 to reach the Supersport category of the Spanish national championship.
Her talent was clear for all as she finished second, twice, in both 2018 and 2019. With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, she decided to stop her on-track activities. After restrictions lifted, a lack of budget and sponsor forced her to look elsewhere. It was through her manager Javier Luna (the father of eSC rider Marc Luna) that she discovered the eSkootr Championship.
